I'm writing this on a Saturday morning (is it still morning? slipping into early afternoon) from inside the boutique storefront of Wellness in the Village. Wellness in the Village is sometimes hard for me to describe to people because it never feels like I'm doing my dreams justice. As I'm sipping my pumpkin spice coffee and listening to acoustic guitar music, cool fall breezes coming through the window, I thought I'd give it a try here.
Wellness in the Village is a wellness center. That's usually where I begin.
Then I have to explain what a "wellness center" is, or what it means to me, anyway. I understand a wellness center to be a place that provides health services for the mind and body. It has a focus on holistic and natural methods, and may emphasize health education and self-care practices. At Wellness in the Village, we try to do all of that.
We're home to two massage therapists, a mental health therapist, and me, your friendly neighborhood holistic nutritionist. We also host weekly yoga classes, monthly healing meditation groups, and special events/informational sessions. We are also a distribution site for a local CSA, helping to make fresh, organic produce more accessible.
The first few rooms in Wellness in the Village are the boutique, which features a small but powerful collection of products designed to support a healthy lifestyle and offer support for self-care. You'll find vitamins & supplements, CBD, organic skin care, essential oils, soaps, candles, natural cleaning products, and sustainable household items. There's locally roasted coffee and herbal tea; a selection of pantry products like seeds, oat milk, and jam; and handmade jewelry. Every item on our shelves in chosen carefully in an effort to support our clients and customers.
It's not uncommon for visitors to hang around a while, and I absolutely love that. We get to chatting about health struggles, personal goals, products of interest, habits people are working on... and that's my favorite part! I want stopping at Wellness in the Village to feel like you're stopping to visit a friend. And hopefully, during that visit, we can help you do a little problem-solving and find a solution that fits your needs.
If you're ever looking for something you don't see here, please, by all means, ASK! Our on-hand inventory is just a tiny selection of the vast products at our disposal, and what you're looking for might be as simple as adding your request to our next order.
Thanks for letting me share a little bit about what's going on over here in the Village of Alden, and extra special thanks to all those who have been showing support and encouragement as I try to make this passion for bringing wellness and healing to my community a reality!
