Immune boosting ginger tea

As the weather starts to really cool down here in WNY, the hours of sunlight are less, and our bodies can really use a little boost around this time of year! We've all been victims of the winter colds that just seem to knock everyone out at the same time - but if you start boosting your immune system EARLY, you're more likely to fight those colds off!

This recipe is soo simple and delicious, and I love it for a few reasons:

- The freshness. Using ginger tea bags is NOTHING compared to boiling fresh ginger root! (You can also drop it right in a juicer with a lemon to make ginger lemon shots!)

- Antioxidant (seeks out free radicals in your body to dispose of them - free radicals can be cancer causing)

- Anti-inflammatory (most diseases are caused by inflammation!)

- Ayurvedic - Ayurveda is an ancient Indian medical science which I have studied & practiced for years. It is recommended to start each day with a glass of warm lemon water to benefit your digestive tract. I can speak for myself that it does help!

Ingredients:

  1. Fresh Ginger Root

  2. Water

  3. (optional) Lemon & Honey

Steps:

  1. Take 1 inch piece of ginger, peel & cut into thin slices

  2. Add to a pot of boiling water, and lower to a simmer

  3. Simmer for 10-15 min, until water is a deep yellow/orange

  4. Add lemon, honey, or anything else you like!

This is so simple and will do wonders for your immune system & belly. I hope you try it out!
